Falling In love with fall

By October 1, 2018No Comments

Its official, fall 2018 began 1 week ago. Living in Southwest Florida, it actually might be hard to tell with our temperatures still hovering in the 90’s, but for those of us year-round residents, we notice it really is a bit cooler and we have had some less humid days.

Having said that, we are ready to change our wardrobes no matter what the thermometer says! Shorts and tee shirts get old as the summer months drag on.

Embracing the new trends for fall will be so easy, there truly is something for everyone. The palette for this season is just like the changing leaves; olive greens, harvest gold, burgundy, taupe and brown. Whoever thought that 70’s gold would look so current and on trend as it does for 2018? As everyone’s staples for the season, navy, black grey and camel will be the base for all things fall.

Patterns are a must have for fall, the leader being camouflage. Animal prints are everywhere, with leopard leading the pack of course along with zebra, and cheetah.

Making a real comeback this season is plaid. Plaid is a true hallmark of this season, so wear it boldly as an accent piece or your whole ensemble, and definitely get mad for plaid. You can cozy up with a faux fur vest, wrap or jacket all offered in the subtlest of shades in baby pink and blue all the delicious neutrals.

Leather is showing up as accents on blouses, tees, pants, and jeans, of course as a stand-alone fabric as well.

Trending this season is the cropped flair pants and jeans with the little bootie. What could be a better look with our tropical climate? Pants are a name your choice trend, skinny, wide, boot cut, cropped, cargo, zippered or tight ankle, pick your favorite and have some fun. Jackets have made a resurgence, as has the cardigan, now we’re not going to wear Mr. Rogers’ cardigan, but a long, non-structured flowing one.

Keeping in mind, it really is fall, turn down the air conditioner, brew a coffee and get ready to cozy up for the coming season.
